I thoroughly enjoyed Through the Lens by K.M. Jackson. Love Mija and Alejandro, but they frustrated me to no end. I suppose that because they were so much alike, it was inevitable they would bump heads as much in romance as they did in work. The island experience was a perfect setting for the change in their relationship, but it was a constant tug-of-war with their emotions and my nerves. Thank goodness for supportive minor characters Robin (co-worker of both Mika and Alejandro), and David (Alejandro's brother). This was a fast-paced book, and I can't wait to begin book two in the Creative Hearts series.Product details

When I read the 3 star review, I'll admit I harbored doubts regarding this book. So then I read the free part. I thought this was a very delightful, touching story. I love a hero who suffers, and poor Ale suffered mightily. Ms. Jackson did a wonderful job with both characters growing past their supposed abilities. Her insight into the fashion photography area was pristine. This was a very well-written, thought out plot. I highly recommend this book.
This was the kind of book in which the heroine is secretly in love with the hero and doesn't have enough confidence to let him know. It had a decidedly middle school feel with lots of misplaced anger and useless tears. I never understood why author's use this formula for romance novels because half the book is spent with the hero and heroine at odds. What's romantic about that?
First time reading this author and will definitely buy any other book she might write in the future...this was a great book and I loved that it was not short but took time to develop the characters and the relationship....just an overall good read...I highly recommend this book....it was so good to read a book that wasn't just about sex but was well balanced....I am excited about this author....this was money well spent
This is my first book by this author and it was a joy. Mika and Alejandro are both smart, sexy artists just destined to be together IF they could just listen as well as talk. Most romance books don't seem to have people of color or it's ambiguous but it's refreshing to read such a thoughtful book where it's clear that they are black/brown. Needless to say, I have already downloaded two more books by this author to read and I'm looking forward to them.
I truly enjoyed this story. Two creative souls uniting is always a fun read. Mika works as an assistant for famous photographer Alejandro. Both have an attraction to one another, but neither act on it to preserve their professional relationship. Until a stay on a nearly deserted island changes everything. I loved how strong and feisty Mika was and had a blast watching Alejandro fall. I would highly recommend.
Crimson Romance is starting a tradition of "island getaway" books, a chance to go somewhere exotic and have that romance. While it is true that there's heavy sex by the time you reach Chapter 4, it's germane to the plot. A sexy fashion photographer who takes his assistant for granted - until he happens to look at her through the lens. An assistant who goes on a fling with him, because he doesn't realize it's a LAST fling - she's going somewhere she's appreciated. Right at the beginning of the book, she falls off the boat, and of course he grabs for the equipment, not the girl - I started snickering over my coffee in the Diner, Jackson SO had me there! It was such a "guy thing." And, Jackson has experience in the fashion industry, so the action rings true. Buy it. I won't lend you my copy because I'm keeping it.
I love to read romances between co-workers, maybe because that's how I met my husband. But this workplace romance is an over-the-top fantasy that would appeal to anyone with a heart. Handsome, well-known photographer, Alejandro Vargas, and his assistant, lovely Mika Walters, also an aspiring photographer, are three days early for a fashion shoot on a tropical island. Mika has a secret she's trying to get up the nerve to tell her boss as well as an attraction to him she is sure he doesn't return. But a paradise island, moonlight and tropical breezes work their magic and the inevitable happens. But can it hold up in the cold light of a New York day?
