This is the magazine editor who hired Isaac Asimov at 2 cents a word when he was in high school. It is hard to believe that this was written in 1932 for what every high school physics student knows these days was rare then. Campbell was certainly a logical and linear thinker. The Last Evolution John W Campbell Jr 9781557428073 Books Reviews
John Wood Campbell was a boyhood favorite
In most stories where humanity and robots live together, there is a rebellion against fleshy masters. Not so here. Instead, humans and robots are both put under threat by an alien invasion, and work together to send both of their species into one final evolutionary leap.
There's not so much individual characters, as humanity, robots, and aliens as a whole are the characters. Sadly, this meant I wasn't very invested in the story. It is interesting, certainly, but I wasn't able to commiserate with anyone.
